Part of the fun of heirloom varieties is veggies like this. This beautiful giant is a Rampicante. It is similar to a zucchini, but a bit more dense. One of our favorite ways to use it is to grate it into long wide strips and toss it in an olive oil tomato sauce .
My name is Nicolette Palermo and I am the creator of Anomaly Gardens. My journey started in 2019 where I made a gigantic career leap. I was and will always be a critical care nurse. I actively worked in various healthcare settings for - years. I loved being a part of helping someone not just survive but to also thrive. It was so important for me to give the people I cared for dignity and respect in some of their worst moments. Understanding their needs and foreseeing possible outcomes let me help prevent unnecessary pain and terrible results. Unfortunately, the system I was working in is a system that is reactive and not proactive, and I felt like I could not help like my heart wanted to.
I decided to leave healthcare and use my nursing and chemistry degree directed towards preventative health and my sights were immediately set on food and the environment. My journey led me to dive my hands into the soil and take care of the life all around me. We got chickens, garden boxes, and took all the spaces we could and made them edible landscapes. As I worked this small strip of land I could see the microbiome around me change. I saw all types of life come to our little postage stamp of a property, and I knew that even this little piece of environmental balance was helping heal the earth. I then made it my mission to help others take any spaces they can to heal the earth around them. I started teaching, building, and growing in others spaces so they knew what to plant and how to heal the earth around them. I am helping people be proactive in healing themselves by healing the earth one plant at a time. That is the story of Anomaly Gardens.
I love being a part of this blessing.
I look forward to hearing from you. If you have pictures that you would like to include, please attach them to the contact message.
I'm excited to help you do it for the plants!
Thank you!
